The University of Georgia Department of History grants the B.A., M.A.,and Ph.D. degrees.
The department has a strong tradition of expertise in subjects ranging from
early American to modern African American history, the Caribbean to the Middle East,
early modern Europe to the modern U.S. South, technology to religion,
popular culture to foreign policy, environment to global capitalism.
Faculty members have won numerous teaching and scholarly awards, including the 1998 Pulitzer Prize in History,
a 2003 MacArthur Foundation "Genius" Award, a 2006 Fulbright Award, a
