RESEARCH INTERESTS:
My recent work investigates the interaction between high intensity, ultrashort pulses and optical materials such as thin-film filters. These interactions are of particular interest when the intensity of light begins to degrade the performance of the filter (either by an introduction of nonlinear effects in the filter or by exceeding the damage threshold of the material itself). I use a finite difference time-domain (FDTD) algorithm to model and better understand the underlying principles of this interaction.
