Projects that I am involved in:
Binary Star Research: particularly Near Contact Binaries
I am in the process of updating a list of Near Contact Binaries. Some of these have been studied for a long time, such as V1010 Oph, and some are recently discovered.
The most recently discovered are 248 new Near Contact Binaries found in the NSVS
That search also turned up more than 13,000 other periodic variables including new members of three groups of rare eclipsing systems:Eclipsing Binaries with subdwarf B (sdB) stars
GS Binaries (eclipsing sytems with both components a subgiant or giant star)

I have also been seen at K-12 schools around the state trying to convince the next generation to become scientists. |
