The simplest relation one can have is when one quantity increases (decreases) directly as the other increases (decreases). An everyday example would be sales tax that is (rounded off) is a strict percentage of what you spend. The energy of a photon is directly proportional to its frequency. Double the frequency = double the energy. Half the energy = half the frequency. Five times the frequency = five times the energy. The constant in the equation: E =h l is Planck’s constant and is only there to make sure the units come out correctly if you are doing a calculation.
